Upcoming:

  • Breaking Boulders

Etude’s movement series comes to southwest Colorado! Hosted at Gravity Lab in Durango, CO, this workshop will teach climbers to understand how to take boulders apart, understand the pieces and then reassemble them into a send. We'll cover how to find the right position on difficult moves, how to apply different movement styles to a sequence, and how to put hard moves back together into a cohesive plan.

We recommend that you climb V3/4 before attending this workshop.

    Thursday 7/16 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Gravity Lab.

  • Movement 2.0: Position and Balance

Etude’s movement series comes to the western slope! Hosted at Grip Bouldering in Grand Junction, CO, this workshop will develop athletes' understanding of balance on the wall so that they can be in the most stable and powerful position when they go for the next move. We will cover topics such as center of gravity, position creating progress, and using tension in positions in order to broaden and deepen athletes’ understanding of this fundamental climbing skill and provide tools for them to apply these concepts in their own climbing.

We recommend that you climb V3/4 before attending this workshop.

Friday 7/17 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Grip Bouldering in Grand Junction, CO

  • Movement 2.0: Dynamic Movement

Etude’s movement series comes to the western slope! Hosted at Grip Bouldering in Grand Junction, CO, this workshop will develop athletes’ ability to generate momentum and move dynamically on the wall. We will cover how to initiate dynamic moves, your trajectory in the air, and how to catch them in a strong, effective position. We will apply those concepts through off and on-the-wall drills to develop the athlete's ability to use these concepts in their own climbing.

We recommend that you climb V3/4 before attending this workshop.

Saturday 7/18 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Grip Bouldering in Grand Junction, CO

  • Gripwork: Stronger Fingers for Better Climbing

No one ever said "my fingers are too strong for this route."  In this one hour workshop, we’ll cover strength training concepts for climbers, including basic grip positions, finger anatomy, how to intelligently apply load to the fingers and some finger training myths. We'll also outline and practice simple, effective finger strength protocols to integrate into your weekly training to build those steel tendons we're all after.

Open to climbers of all levels!

  • Movement 2.0: Dynamic Movement

Back home in Albuquerque! This workshop will span two 90-minute sessions to allow us to dig deeper into core dynamic movement concepts as well as give athletes the chance to practice between sessions.

We’ll cover why almost all moves involve momentum, how to initiate dynamic moves, trajectory in the air and how to catch in a strong, effective position. We use off and on-the-wall drills to understand and apply these concepts so athletes leave able to apply them to their own climbing.

Thursdays 7/23-30 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Stone Age North
